SEARS PUTS THE BIG HURT ON NEW FRANK THOMAS VIDEO GAME

     A new Frank Thomas video game, marketed by Acclaim
Entertainment, is scheduled for introduction by mid-November,
according to George Lazarus of the CHICAGO TRIBUNE.  Although
close to 20,000 retailers will carry it, including Kmart and Wal-
Mart, Sears Roebuck announced they will not.  Sears gave no
reason.  The game can be used in Sega and Nintendo systems.
Lazarus writes Thomas still has  "clout" with companies seeking
him for endorsements.  He is in the second year of a five-year
deal with Reebok, and Big Hurt Enterprises is exploring
additional opportunities. Thomas was doing spots for the local
Pepsi bottling company, but "was squeezed out" when PepsiCo inked
Ken Griffey Jr. to a national deal (CHICAGO TRIBUNE, 9/20).
