A'S UNVEIL PLANS FOR COLISEUM; OFFICIALS DELAY NEW AGREEMENT

The A's unveiled their plans for the Coliseum Saturday,
"including the possibility of calling it A's Field," according to
Edvins Beitiks of the S.F. EXAMINER. Edward Alvarez, A's Exec VP
for Business Ops under new owners Steve Schott and Ken Hoffman,
says the team will retain control of baseball concessions and
parking income as well as all signs in the Coliseum, but "will
not participate in a stadium name sale." Alvarez said other
possible names include "A's Ballpark and "A's Stadium" (S.F.
EXAMINER, 9/17). In other Coliseum news, Oakland and Alameda
County politicians have "delayed signing" a new operating
agreement with the independent Coliseum board, "apparently
because of historic conflicts inflamed by fallout over the
return" of the Raiders. According to one Oakland City Council
member, the delay "is to allow for talks on replacing the board
with a management that answers to the city and county directly"
(Rick DelVecchio, S.F. CHRONICLE, 9/16).
