SAN FRANCISCO OFFICIALS QUESTION CANDLESTICK NAME CHANGE

Several San Francisco lawmakers are "stewing and demanding
answers" about how Candlestick Park became 3Com Park so suddenly,
according to the SAN FRANCISCO CHRONICLE. S.F. Supervisor Tom
Ammiano yesterday presented the Recreation and Parks Department
with a "host of detailed questions." Ammiano: "I felt somewhat
railroaded. ... It was not an open process, so now I want to know
if it was done through proper channels." Ammiano also wants to
make sure they got the best deal: "I am not necessarily against
selling the name ... but $500,000 isn't a lot of money. It's
chump change" (Clarence Johnson, S.F. CHRONICLE, 9/12).
