UNIDENTIFIED GROUP BUYS HALF OF STARS FROM NORMAN GREEN

     An ownership-group with "political clout" and "Fort Worth-
Dallas ties" has agreed to buy 50% of the Stars from owner Norman
Green, Stars President Jim Lites announced yesterday.  Lites
would not reveal the investors, but said the group is not led by
Ross Perot, Jr., who negotiated unsuccessfully to buy part of the
club from Green earlier this year.  Lites: "Not only is this
important to infuse equity into the team, but also it's important
because of the influence these people bring.  They have the
ability to give us what we need to build a new arena."  Lites
said the new group will have "significant say" in day-to-day
