RAIDERS RETURN TO OAKLAND NOT ENTIRELY PROBLEM-FREE

Saturday's Raiders game against the Rams was a "celebration"
on the field, but it was also a "reminder of the problems the
club faces off the field," according to the SAN FRANCISCO
CHRONICLE. Glenn Dickey writes that while the game had been the
focus of attention in the area for weeks, it was not a sellout,
"largely because of a marketing effort so misguided that it is
expected to cost marketing director Mark Ganis his job" (SAN
FRANCISCO CHRONICLE, 8/14).
MORE SNAFUS: Many Raiders fans were anticipating strong
competition for season tickets in the lottery system and sent in
multiple applications for PSLs, which are needed to buy seats.
With demand less than expected, many are finding all applications
were accepted and some fans are faced with large debts and
possible loss of non-refundable deposits (Baltimore SUN, 8/13).
