MEDIA NOTES

Ninety percent of the people surveyed by a USA Today/CNN/
Gallup poll say they won't purchase the August 19 Mike Tyson-
Peter McNeeley fight (USA TODAY, 8/9)....In this morning's N.Y.
POST, Phil Mushnick writes that Ken Schanzer, the current head of
The Baseball Network, interviewed, but will not be hired, to take
the new position as head of the MSG network (N.Y. POST,
8/9)....Paul Maguire and Phil Simms will join Dick Enberg as
NBC's top NFL broadcasting team, the network announced yesterday
(NBC)....The Arena Football League's St. Louis Stampede will not
move their first round playoff game to Albany on Friday night to
accommodate ESPN. ESPN was going to televise the game on Friday,
but the Kiel Center is being used by the Roller Hockey Vipers.
They offered the Stampede $40,000 to move the game to Albany to
play the Firebirds, but the Stampede refused. Visiting AFL teams
are guaranteed $40,000, so the Stampede must "net $80,00 to pay
the Firebirds and still match the guarantee it had to move to
Albany" (ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH, 8/9).
