WHAT WILL THE YOUNG CHOW AT DEBARTOLO'S 49ERS RESTAURANT?

49ers Owner Eddie DeBartolo Jr. has reportedly picked the
Bay Area as headquarters for his plan to develop "entertainment-
oriented retailing centers around the world," according to
today's S.F. CHRONICLE. DeBartolo Entertainment was formed two
months ago to "leverage his expertise in shopping center
development and sports entertainment." One of the company's
first projects will be an "upscale" 49ers-themed restaurant in
the Bay area, with team memorabilia and merchandise, possibly
adjacent to a large sporting goods store. Other DeBartolo
projects are in discussion, including a 400,000 square-foot
retail complex in South San Francisco "to accompany a proposed
card club backed by Hollywood Park" (Jonathan Marshall, S.F.
CHRONICLE, 8/9).
