DISNEY PRESENCE IN BOSTON GREETED WITH UNCERTAINTY

Walt Disney Co.'s interest in developing property on
Boston's waterfront was "met with more questions than
enthusiasm," according to the BOSTON GLOBE. Boston Mayor Tom
Menino: "One of the things Boston needs immediately is a
convention center." President of the Greater Boston Convention
and Visitors Bureau Patrick Moscaritolo said Disney would likely
encounter the same opposition that surfaced to proposed baseball
and football stadiums in South Boston (Richard Kindleberger &
Adrian Walker, BOSTON GLOBE, 8/9). An editorial in the BOSTON
HERALD says Massport Exec Dir Steve Tocco's motive behind pushing
a Disney presence in Boston is that it will make everything,
including a baseball and football stadium, "look remarkably
small, do-able and low-key by comparison" (BOSTON HERALD, 8/9).
