BRONCOS' BOWLEN SAYS MILE HIGH IS BORDERING ON UNSAFE

Broncos Owner Pat Bowlen is profiled by Adam Schefter in
Sunday's ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS. Among Bowlen's plans for the
franchise is a new stadium. Bowlen: "Frankly, we've all got to
wake up here because 10 years from now I can't be playing at Mile
High Stadium. Not only can I not be playing there, I don't think
the stadium is going to be safe to play there. I think it's
going to be condemned by the city's own building inspectors."
Bowlen "insists" he would never move the Broncos, not even if
L.A. or Toronto gave him a "sweetheart deal." Bowlen: "If any
city approached me, I'd turn them down flat. This organization
will not move unless they condemn Mile High Stadium and we have
no place to play." Stadium talks between Bowlen and the city
have reportedly "stalled" and Bowlen says there are no "no plans
for more talks and no signs any agreement can be reached." City
officials disagree, however, saying that talks "are moving
forward, but probably not as fast as both sides would like"
(ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS, 7/30).
