LIGHTNING BOSS SAYS THEY'RE "CLOSE" ON ARENA FINANCING

     Hillsborough County Commissioners have voted 5-1 to approve
a new lease with the Lightning, "one that will allow them to go
the bond market Thursday," according to Joe Henderson of the
TAMPA TRIBUNE.  Lightning Governor David LeFevre said that "if
all goes well," the team will "close in on the financing in about
10 days."  The adjusted lease "bows" to NHL bylaws prohibiting
governments from suing if the league orders the team moved under
a "disaster clause"   -- including attendance for two straight
seasons less than 80% of the league average 15,500 (TAMPA
TRIBUNE, 7/27).
