The Cowboys coaching staff will wear a new Dallas Denim line
from Converse late this season, according to Jeff Jensen at AD
AGE. Converse will introduce its denim apparel line this fall,
based around the Cowboys, which will include "western-style
denim-wear including shirts, hats, and outer garments." The
line "ties into a new NFL effort to exploit the distinctive
personalities of each of the league teams ... to create new
business opportunities in the licensed apparel arena." The new
look will be in stores in November and the team will unveil their
blue jean outfit during their annual appearance on Thanksgiving
Day. Converse "inherited" the NFL Pro Line when they purchased
Apex One, and Jensen reports, "Their initial efforts are shaking
up the industry with hipper designs and multimillion-dollar
marketing support from top ad agencies" (AD AGE, 7/24 issue).
ON THE COURT: Converse will run a new spot featuring the
Suns' Kevin Johnson in support of their new R.A.W. Energy
Basketball shoe. It will run on ESPN, MTV, and other syndicated
shoes for a month (AD AGE ONLINE, 7/25).
