NUGGETS, COLORADO-NHL OWNER COMSAT REPORTS FLAT EARNINGS

     Comsat, the MD-based satellite communication and
entertainment company which owns the Nuggets and Colorado-NHL
franchises, reported flat second-quarter earnings yesterday and
announced a restructuring "aimed at improving performance and
market value."  Comsat reported a 1.8% increase in earnings from
a 1.4% gain in revenues.  Part of the restructuring plan includes
the hiring of Allen & Co. Inc. and CS First Boston "to evaluate
ways to unlock the value of the company's entertainment assets" -
- including the sports franchises.  Comsat shares rose 9.6%
yesterday, closing up $2 at $22.75 (Baltimore SUN, 7/25).
