PROSPECTIVE A'S OWNERS GET EXTENSION ON DEADLINE

7.17.1995

     Stephen Schott and Ken Hoffman "have been granted an
extension on their purchase of the team as they try to wrap up
negotiations on a Coliseum lease," according to the SAN JOSE
MERCURY NEWS.  Current A's Chair Wally Haas, Jr., confirmed the
extension but refused to say how long it was for.  Discussions on
the sale "have grown more complex" with the return of the Raiders
and renovations to the stadium.  Haas:  "We're doing our best to
conclude the deal" (Sandy Kleffman, SAN JOSE MERCURY NEWS, 7/15).
