WARRIORS PRESIDENT DOLICH RESIGNS, SOURCES CITE FRUSTRATION

Warriors President Andy Dolich resigned yesterday after
becoming "increasingly frustrated" as Owner Chris Cohan and Team
Council Robin Baggett "steadily cut back his sphere of control,"
according to sources cited by Ric Bucher in this morning's SAN
JOSE MERCURY NEWS. Bucher reports that Dolich "was abruptly
removed" from the process of finding a successor to Coach/GM Don
Nelson after Chuck Daly and Doug Collins said they were not
interested, and "apparently didn't have much operating room on
the business side." While Baggett said Dolich's departure "was
very friendly and amicable," Bucher reports that front office
employees are concerned "about how the business side of the
franchise will run under Cohan." Bucher cites a 30-page employee
handbook distributed to front-office employees before the draft
that requires "all employees other than upper-level management"
to clock in and out and extends each employee's work day by 30
minutes. The "high-placed" source speculated that Baggett, who
says he is not a candidate, would be the successor: "Who else
could it be? Cohan doesn't trust anybody else" (SAN JOSE MERCURY
NEWS, 7/7).
