THEY COULD KEEP THE BOOT MOTIF -- NASHVILLE SPURS

     The Spurs are the subject of "swirling" speculation in
Nashville as the next target in the "effort to lure a sports
tenant" for its new arena, according to this morning's Bergen
RECORD.  Wednesday, the Spurs hinted at their need for a new
arena to ensure profitability in San Antonio.  The RECORD's
Fitzgerald & Hirsch report Edward Gaylord, Chair of Gaylord
Entertainment -- the Nashville company heading the effort to land
a team -- owns "a strong minority share" in the Spurs.  According
to "an official closely involved": "People are salivating here"
(Bergen RECORD, 7/7).
