MULTIMEDIA ROUND-UP

     SportsChannel Chicago reports an average of 200 chat-line
users tapped into the June 23 White Sox-Indians game and
interacted with announcers Ken Harrelson and Tom Paciorek.  In
addition, the two received over 200 questions and comments via e-
mail (SportsChannel Chicago)....In a piece on the Redskins' use
of videotape -- and the prospect that future game films might all
be on CD-ROM -- Dave Sell reports that the Redskins are testing a
digital videotape editing system by Avid Technology.  The Eagles
are one of four NFL teams using the system, which costs $85,000
and is also used by the NBA's Rockets and Magic.  Avid's system
allows a coach or editor to call up a play without rewinding or
forwarding tape (WASHINGTON POST, 7/2)....The SEATTLE TIMES' Tom
Farrey took an extensive look at the coming "Digital Age" of
sports in Sunday's issue.  Included are pieces on sports' place
on the internet, a feature on ESPNET's SportsZone, and a look at
Paul Allen's plans for the Blazers' new Rose Garden to challenge
the "home-viewing experiece of the 21st century" (SEATTLE TIMES,
7/2).
