RAWLINGS' BASEBALL SALES STILL SLUMP IN THIRD QUARTER REPORT

Rawlings Sporting Goods Co. said it expects a profit of
about $.10 a share for its third quarter, which ended May 31,
compared with last year's third-quarter earning of $.41 a share.
Analysts had predicted earnings of $.18 a share. The company
said that revenues from baseball products have "continued to
perform below-already reduced estimates," due largely to the
eight month baseball strike. Rawlings also expects revenues to
be down about 12% from last year. For the full year, Rawlings
expects profits to be below its previous estimates of $.80 to
$.85 a share, and revenues to be less than their $145M estimate.
The company said orders from baseball retailers "show no sign of
an immediate turnaround" (DOW JONES NEWS SERVICE, 7/1).
