STADIUM NOTES

     WI Governor Tommy Thompson said Monday that an announcement
on funding for a new park for the Brewers is at least a month
away.  Thompson had been expected to announce a plan in early
July (MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL, 7/4)....In Sunday's Baltimore
SUN, Jon Morgan profiled the plight of cities such as Atlanta,
Pittsburgh, St. Louis and Cincinnati, which built multiple-use
stadiums in the late-'60s and early '70s to lure pro teams and
now are looking to replace these stadiums (Baltimore SUN,
7/2)....In this morning's HOUSTON CHRONICLE, Jody Goldstein
profiles the exclusivity clause with the Summit enjoyed by the
IHL Aeros.  No NHL team can move into the facility until 2003
(HOUSTON CHRONICLE, 7/5)....Earl Daniels profiles the
installation of the turf at the stadium formerly known as the
Gator Bowl in preparation of the Jaguars' first game August 18
(Jacksonville FLORIDA TIMES-UNION, 7/4)....In the current issue
of TIME, Steve Wulf examines franchise movement in the quest for
luxury boxes.  The header: "How Suite it Isn't -- Cities are
winning and losing teams based on how many luxury boxes they can
offer greedy owners" (TIME, 7/10).
