MEGAPLEX NOTES: WILL SOX OPPONENT GILLETTE BE THE MONIKER?

     Gillette, which has voiced opposition to the construction of
a new ballpark for the Red Sox near their South Boston HQs,
"could be the front-runner" for the naming rights for such a
park, according to the BOSTON GLOBE's Nick Cafardo (BOSTON GLOBE,
7/2)....In the Sunday BOSTON HERALD, Peter Gelzinis notes the
team's lack of popularity in South Boston.  Gelzinis writes, that
although it's been 77 years since the team has won a title, "it
may take 177 years for the BoSox to win over Southie" (BOSTON
HERALD, 7/2)....A piece in Sunday's GLOBE Business section
profiles the financial commitment of Patriots Owner Robert Kraft
toward the megaplex.  Richard Kindleberger reports that Kraft's
reluctance to commit $50M for renovation of Foxboro Stadium, but
willingness to spend "over $200 million" for a dome in downtown
Boston, "reflects the much greater potential he sees in the
Boston project" (BOSTON GLOBE, 7/2).
