MARKETPLACE ROUND-UP

     RCSA, a national manufacturer of rotational ad signs, and
Pan American Sports Corp., has signed a deal with to provide
rotational ads at the 36th annual Men's South American Basketball
Championships in Uruguay (RCSA)....In New York, Phil Mushnick
writes, "with Mickey Mantle on the ropes, just watch how the QVC
and Home Shopping Network vultures and the cruds at Upper Deck
and the like start to whack up the price of Mantle-autographed
anything and everything."  Mushnick calls on MLB "demand that its
licensed collectible companies do nothing to exploit Mantle's
condition" (N.Y. POST, 6/9).... Steve Young appeared at the
opening of Macy's new Stanford Men's store, and his performance
was described as "remarkable ... funny, upbeat, self-effacing."
Young: "You only have so many hits as a spokesperson or a
salesman.  But I think, in a way, you have a lot of hits for
being part of the community" (S.F. CHRNONICLE, 6/9).... Hershey
Chocolate USA launches its Reese's/Bill Elliott $1M Driving
Challenge on Sunday.  The promotion offers one sweepstakes winner
the chance to race against NASCAR champ Elliot.  The prizes:  $1M
if the contestant wins, an Elliott Signature Edition Ford
Thunderbird if Elliott wins.  The Chamionship Group in Atlanta
directed the program (AD AGE ONLINE, 6/9).
