     Actor Peter Berg was shown the finer points of hockey by
MARTY MCSORLEY of the L.A. Kings on ET ("Entertainment Tonight,"
5/19)....Suns President JERRY COLANGELO on Charles Barkley's talk
of retirement: "He's always done everything he's wanted to do in
the past and this will be no different.  If he truly wants to
retire then that is what he should do" ("This Week in the NBA,"
CNN, 5/21)....Patriots Owner ROBERT KRAFT will play a large role
as an Owner/Operator when MLS announces its '96 season.  Kraft:
"They are very close to annoucing something and we've agreeed to
be part of it"  (BOSTON GLOBE, 5/20)....Former Rockies part-owner
MICKEY MONUS has lost a bid to collect an extra $15M for his
partial share of the team.  A judge in U.S. Bankruptcy Court
ruled that there was no indication Monus' former partners
defrauded him when they purchased his 10% of the team in '92
(ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS)....AL CAMPANIS has returned to baseball as
VP/Baseball Operations for the Palm Spring Suns of the recently
formed Western League, among the newest of 11 independent leagues
(L.A. TIMES, 5/22)....WAYNE HUIZENGA guaranteed a $20M loan to
cover the deficit on the proposed $53M motorsports complex in
Homestead, FL.  In exhange, Huizenga will "likely run the show
and get a share of some of the profits" (MIAMI HEARLD,
5/19)....MAGIC JOHNSON told the ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER "there's a
good chance" he would play in the NBA next season (Mult.,
5/21)....In an interview with the EDMONTON JOURNAL, Oilers Owner
PETER POCKLINGTON, said he is seeking to sell the naming rights
for the Northlands Coliseum.  Pocklington:  "I seem to want more
money than they want to pay" (EDMONTON JOURNAL, 5/20).
