NFLPA "DISTURBED" BY MEDIA LEAKS REGARDING SAPP'S DRUG TESTS

     NLFPA Asst Exec Dir Doug Allen said he was "very concerned"
about leaks regarding failed drug tests by Univ. of Miami's
Warren Sapp.  Allen:  "I'm real disturbed to hear that this
information on Warren Sapp has apparently been leaking again and
will pursue that report with the league."  Allen said that
players "come under the union umbrella" once they attend scouting
combines.  According to NFL Commissioner Paul Tagliabue, an
investigation into the matter will begin next week.  Allen:
"We're not going to let this matter rest until we find out what
happens and make sure it never happens again."  According to USA
TODAY's Bryan Burwell, the league's testing, enforcement and
treatment "are handled by independent organizations which have
the players' best interest at heart."  Allen stressed that the
reason for confidentiality "is not to hide it but to deal with
the problem properly" (USA TODAY, 4/24).
