FANS AND RAMS AGREE THAT TIME IS ON THEIR SIDE

The Rams and FANS, Inc., the civic group negotiating to
bring the Rams to St. Louis, have renegotiated their relocation
agreement extending the deadline for either side to "walk away
without obligation" to Thursday. FANS Inc. requested the
extension after the league voted down the Rams move on March 15.
If FANS adheres to the agreement, it must pay the Rams $13M "for
legal fees and expenses related to the move." It would also be
"liable for the $27 million in bond payments owed to Anaheim
Stadium for the termination of the Rams lease." FANS has not
publicly stated how the obligations would be paid. Rams
President John Shaw has said he will file a $2B lawsuit against
the league by Friday, but said he hoped to meet with NFL
Commissioner Paul Tagliabue "sometime this week about the move"
(Michele Himmelberg, ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER, 3/28).
