THE MICHAEL WATCH: EXTRA! EXTRA! NO NEWS!

As you may or may not know, Michael Jordan practiced Monday
with the Bulls. Writes Melissa Isaacson of the CHICAGO TRIBUNE,
"And so as a nation waits and wonders, we can only continue to
assume that his comeback inclinations are serious and snatch up
any comments from Jordan, secondhand or otherwise." Coach Phil
Jackson: "His discussions with [Bulls Owner] Jerry Reinsdorf are
important ... because most of it is in Jerry Reinsdorf's hands as
to whether Michael comes back or not. ... I don't know if money
is the issue. ... The league should get together and give him
$100 million" (CHICAGO TRIBUNE, 3/14). Bulls GM Jerry Krause:
"I know nothing. And I think if Michael had brought up the
subject of playing again with Jerry Reinsdorf. I would know
something. Maybe Michael hasn't made up his mind" (CHICAGO
TRIBUNE, 3/14). Since rumors that Jordan would announce his
decision yesterday turned out false, speculation has begun about
a new date for an announcement. Several Chicago radio stations
say they expect word Thursday (WASHINGTON POST, 3/14).
THE WORLD'S ABUZZ: In New York, Peter Vecsey recommends
that Jordan stay retired (N.Y. POST, 3/14).... Yesterday, Michael
Sneed cited rumors that Jordan was being "wooed" with mega-
millions by Golden State, whose assistant coach, Rod Higgins, is
a good friend of Jordan's (CHICAGO SUN-TIMES, 3/13)....Both
Michael Hiestand and CHICAGO TRIBUNE's "Inc." column suggest
Jordan may return wearing No. 45 instead of 23 (USA TODAY/CHICAGO
TRIBUNE, 3/14).
