GUND ARENA TO LIFT PLAYING SURFACE 4-8 INCHES

"Stung by numerous complaints about bad sightlines" at the
new Gund Arena, the Cavaliers have decided to raise the playing
floor, according to Bob Dyer of the Akron BEACON JOURNAL. The
team hopes this move will enable fans sitting in the lower bowl to
see over the heads of the fans sitting in front of them. Cavs
President/COO Tom Chestnut would not discuss the specifics, the
cost or the timetable other than to say that, "in the best of all
possible worlds," a change could be made even before the end of
the season. A source close to the team says the plan calls for
the raising the floor either four or eight inches (BEACON JOURNAL,
3/8).
