L.A. SPORTS GENERATE $2 BILLION FOR GOLDEN STATE

Major sporting events in the L.A. area contributed
approximately $2B to the area's economy according to a study
conducted by the UCLA Anderson Graduate School of Management.
The study was commissioned by the L.A. Sports Council and the
L.A. Area Chamber of Commerce. The report found that $762M was
pumped directly into the economy; $1.2B was generated by second-
hand spending. In addition, the study found that sports were
responsible for 1,716 full-time and 12,857 part-time jobs. L.A.
Sports Council President David Simon: "The results of this study
should indicate to the community that sports are not only games
played by adults, but they are an important provider of jobs and
economic benefit for our region" (L.A. Sports Council).
