DISNEY'S SPORTS COMPLEX MAY BE RUSHED FOR OLYMPIC OPENING

Walt Disney World in Orlando "hopes to break ground early
next year on a new sports complex that may be able to host world-
class athletes training" for the '96 Games. However the complex
is scheduled to be finished in January, 1997, "with a primary
goal of attracting a major-league baseball team for spring
training." Disney publicist John Story: "Sports is a multi-
billion-dollar business and we're just trying to get a small
piece of that." The new facility would be for "serious and
recreational athletes" and would host 160 events a year from
fencing to basketball, track and tennis. The Amateur Athletic
Union voted earlier this year to move its offices and some events
to Disney World next year (Rosen & Drape, ATLANTA CONSTITUTION,
10/23).
