ACOG MOVES CLOSER TO FINANCING FOR GAMES -- BRICK BY BRICK

ACOG organizers said yesterday that they were within $100M
of completing financing for their '96 budget of $1.6B. ACOG
President William Payne said that contracts have been reached for
60% of the total financing. Most of the rest of financing will
come from future revenue items such as ticket sales, Australian
TV rights and future merchandise licensing. The final $100M will
likely come the sale of more corporate sponsorships. Another
potential revenue source is the sale to individuals of
"commemorative Olympic bricks," which Payne said could raise
millions of dollars. Home Depot, based in Atlanta, plans to
market the bricks beginning in early November in its stores and
through a special 800-number (Jerry Schwartz, N.Y. TIMES, 10/13).
