     JIMMY JOHNSON, JOHN MCENROE, CATFISH HUNTER, ISIAH THOMAS,
EVANDER HOLYFIELD, FRANCO HARRIS, HALE IRWIN, MARCEL DIONNE, CARL
LEWIS, AL UNSER JR., and SCOTT HAMILTON, will all be honored as
"Great Sports Legends" by the Buoniconti Fund at the Waldorf-
Astoria on Oct. 4.  The fund raises money nationally for the
Miami Project to Cure Paralysis (THE DAILY)....BOB IGER, WILLOW
BAY, JEFFREY KATZENBERG, TOM JOHNSON, STEVEN SPIELBERG, HOWARD
STRINGER, AND ROBERT WRIGHT were all guests at last night's White
House dinner for BORIS YELSTIN (WASHINGTON POST, 9/28)....SARA
LEVINSON, the new president of NFL properties, is featured in a
mini-profile in this morning's WASHINGTON POST.  Levinson:
"We're not in the clothing business; we're in the business of
football.  The merchandise helps promote the game" (Dave Sell,
WASHINGTON POST, 9/28)....JOHN TEETS, CEO of Dial and proponent
of bringing an MLB franchise to Phoenix, is interviewed by PAM
WEISZ and JOHN MCMANUS in this week's BRANDWEEK (9/26
issue)....DON KING was in NYC yesterday to let the boxing
industry know that he "is delighted with life these days," since
"the heavyweight wheel ... has suddenly turned his way" (Vic
Ziegel, N.Y. DAILY NEWS, 9/28).  At a news conference with OLIVER
MCCALL, King "was hailed as a business genius by WINSTON COX, the
Showtime chairman; saluted as a humanitarian by a Cleveland
minister, the REV. WILLIAM F. CROCKET; and acclaimed as a creator
of black millionaires by a New York politician, the REV. AL
SHARPTON" (Robert McG. Thomas, N.Y. TIMES,
9/28)...."SportsCenter" reports that so many people in Rhode
Island played "0032" (the first jury number interviewed in the
O.J. SIMSPON case and O.J.'s number on the Bills) in the state
lottery that they stopped taking money on that number (ESPN,
9/27).
