The match was "suspended after players from both sides walked off the pitch," alleging that a match official "used a racial slur against the Turkish side's assistant coach." Basaksehir players said that fourth official Sebastian Coltescu of Romania had "used a racist term against assistant coach Pierre Webo, who is from Cameroon, before he was sent off with a red card at Parc des Princes." Match referee Ovidiu Hategan of Romania had originally "shown Webo the red card" (AP, 12/8). Wednesday's restart will include a "different refereeing team" (TWITTER.com, 12/8).
Basaksehir F Demba Ba was "seen angrily confronting the official in question before the players returned to the changing rooms." Ba said, "You never say 'this white guy,' you say 'this guy.' Why when you mention a black guy, you have to say 'this black guy'?" (CBSSPORTS.com, 12/8).
