Atletico Madrid Records Small Net Profit For '19-20

Atletico Madrid closed the '19-20 financial year with a net profit of €1.8M ($2.1M). Revenue for the year was €325.3M ($387.4M), down from €357.6M ($425.9M) the previous year. The club's total debt currently stands at €999M ($1.18B). That figure is up from €980M ($1.16B) in '19 (GOAL, 11/23). On December 17, Atletico Madrid will hold a shareholders' assembly for memebers to approve of the accounts through June 30 (PALCO23, 11/24).

Meanwhile, Barcelona has been able to delay a €23M ($27.4M) payment it owes the Spanish tax authorities. The payment is related to money the club failed to pay from January '12 until June '15. Barcelona was able to delay the payment after citing the impact of the pandemic, "which has generated a significant reduction of its revenues" (PALCO23, 11/24).
