Everton-Liverpool To Go Ahead At Goodison Park On June 21

Everton was on Wednesday given the "green light" to stage its meeting with Liverpool at Goodison Park on June 21 at 7pm. A meeting of the city's Ground Safety Advisory Group took place on Thursday and the Blues have been told they have got the "green light to host the game." There was the threat that the game could be moved to a neutral venue after U.K. Football Policing Unit Lead Officer Mark Roberts "identified the fixture as one that they had concerns over." Everton CEO Denise Barrett-Baxendale on Tuesday "made an appeal to fans not to congregate around the ground on matchdays" (LIVERPOOL ECHO, 6/10).

Jurgen Klopp's side "needs six points to clinch their first league title in 30 years," but if second-placed Man City lose their game in hand at home to Arsenal on June 17, Liverpool could secure the league with victory over Everton. Klopp has "promised Liverpool's fans a title parade when it is safe" and said there will be "no home advantage for any team" when the EPL returns behind closed doors (ESPN.com, 6/10).
