French Clubs To Share $1.23B In Domestic TV Rights Revenue

Ligue 1 clubs voted through an agreement to “equally share” domestic TV rights worth $1.23B annually from ’20-24 ($834M from Mediapro, $353M from Canal+, $53M from Free). Int'l TV rights, worth an additional $60M per year, will be allocated among nine clubs considered to have a "European influence," with $20M to be distributed equally, while the other $40M will be awarded based on the “global notoriety” of each club. The agreement was approved by a "sufficient majority," although Marseille voted against, while Lyon abstained. Those two clubs said that they preferred a "distribution that was more favorable to France's 'big' clubs." The $1.23B in TV rights represents an "increase of around' $427M from Ligue 1's current deal (L'EQUIPE, 3/19).
