Another Revenue Record For Barcelona

Barcelona on Wednesday announced record revenue of $1.10B for the '18-19 season, which is close to the €1B ($1.11B) target set in '15 by club President Josep Maria Bartomeu as part of the team's strategic plan. Barcelona's '18-19 expenses totaled $1.08B, "meaning that Barcelona have made an operating profit for the last eight seasons," with a total profit of $199M for that period (XINHUA, 7/24). This is the sixth year in a row that the club has set a new record for its annual revenue (Barcelona).

Barcelona's "after-tax profit was down once again," to $5.01M. The club posted EBITDA for '18-19 of $199M. Barça's post-tax profit in '15-16 was €29M and dropped to €18M in '16-17 before falling to €13M in '17-18. Barcelona has not finished a financial year "in the red" since '10-11, when it announced post-tax losses of €9.3M (MARCA, 7/24).

Meanwhile, the club announced it generated 1.09 billion interactions across its Instagram, Facebook and Twitter accounts in '18-19, according to Crowdtangle and Hootsuite Analytics data. The clubs with the next-most interactions were ManU (916 million), Liverpool (754 million) Juventus (749 million) and Real Madrid (636 million) (Barcelona).
