Ishbia's company accused of 'locker-room culture'

None of the complaints claim that Mat Ishbia himself used racial slurs or sexual harassed employees at United Wholesale Mortgage Mark J. Rebilas/USA TODAY NETWORK

Suns owner Mat Ishbia's company, United Wholesale Mortgage, has been accused of harboring a "locker-room culture," with a number of former and current employees complaining of "racial disparities, sexual harassment and bullying by managers." The complaints come from "more than two dozen" people that have worked for the company in recent years, but none of the complaints claim that "Ishbia himself used racial slurs or sexually harassed employees." Some said that "managers berated subordinates and made sexually suggestive remarks" and "contributed to what they described as a hostile workplace." UWM CMO Sarah DeCiantis in a statement said "any attempt to portray negative culture is false and misleading" (BLOOMBERG NEWS, 4/12).
