Goodell Offers Biden All NFL Stadiums As Vaccination Sites

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell wrote President Biden to tell him each of the league's 32 teams "will make its stadium available for mass vaccinations of the general public." Goodell in the letter wrote that this "can be done swiftly 'because many of our clubs have offered their facilities previously as COVID testing centers as well as election sites over the past several months.'" This "continues an effort by the NFL to use its unique footprint to help the U.S. recover from the pandemic." The letter indicated clubs will make stadiums available "in coordination with local, state, and federal health officials" (AXIOS.com, 2/5).

Meanwhile, the 49ers reached agreement with Santa Clara County to make Levi's Stadium the "largest coronavirus vaccination site in California." The venue will serve as a "mass vaccination location with an initial capacity of 5,000 shots per day when it opens early next week, eventually ramping up to 15,000 per day" (San Jose MERCURY NEWS, 2/5).
