Sources: MLS Could Take Over Sale Process Of Real Salt Lake

MLS will "take over the process of selling Real Salt Lake if current owner Dell Loy Hansen cannot find a new buyer for the team by Jan. 8," according to sources. If MLS takes over the process of selling Real Salt Lake, sources said that the league "would handle inquiries from potential buyers, perform due diligence on them and, ultimately, field and weigh any offers made for the team." Sources said that if MLS receives a bid that it "deems fair market value for the franchise," it could sell the team "with or without Hansen’s approval." The sources said that Hansen "would continue to fund the organization’s operations until a new buyer closes on a purchase." Hansen would still "receive the proceeds of a sale if the team is sold after MLS takes over the selling process" (THEATHLETIC.com, 11/16).
