The Weeknd Will Perform Pepsi Super Bowl LV Halftime Show

Musical artist The Weeknd has been "chosen to play the halftime show" at Super Bowl LV inside Raymond James Stadium, a performance that "may face challenges because of pandemic restrictions." The selection of The Weeknd is in "keeping with the NFL’s recent attempts to attract a wider audience by pivoting from classic rock acts dominated by white musicians to artists with large social media followings who are popular with younger fans and people of color." It will be the second Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show produced in part by Jay-Z and Roc Nation. The NFL has "not indicated how it will stage the show" (N.Y. TIMES, 11/12).
