Steelers To Host Fans After Pennsylvania Loosens Restrictions

Pennsylvania today approved up to 7,500 people to gather “at an outdoor facility that has maximum occupancy of more than 10,000,” and the “first major event with that upper-end capacity in place” will be Sunday’s Eagles-Steelers game. That figure includes players, coaches and staff, so Steelers President Art Rooney II indicated that the team is making 5,500 seats available “in the lower seating bowl at Heinz Field.” Rooney said that priority “will be given to our season ticket holders who did not opt out this season” (PITTSBURGH POST-GAZETTE, 10/6).

Meanwhile, Philadelphia has represented the “highest concentration of coronavirus cases in the state,” and Philadelphia County has “charted its own path and been slower than other counties to ease restrictions.” Therefore it is “unclear if the Eagles will be allowed to have fans at Lincoln Financial Field in coming weeks” (BIZJOURNALS.com, 10/6).
