Pistons' New Program Lets Fans Earn Interest On Tickets

The Pistons rolled out a new season-ticket plan promotion with team sponsor Flagstar Bank that allows buyers to earn interest on their ticket payments for next season. The program -- “Pistons IPO: Initial Pistons Offering" -- allows buyers of '20-21 season-ticket packages from Sept. 2-Oct. 31 to earn up to 5% annually on their investment through Dec. 31. Team execs said this is the first such promotion in the NBA this year, with buyers earning interest paid on a Flagstar Bank certificate of deposit. The offer applies to full, partial and 10-game mini-plans.

To be eligible for the promotion, all season tickets must be paid in full. No additional funds can be deposited into the initial CD, and the plan is not available for businesses. “If there is a season with fans, then the money will be applied and fans keep the interest, and if there is a season with no fans, you get your money back with interest,” said Pistons Chief Business Officer Mike Zavodsky. “There is a lot of fluidity right now and we want to provide value for fans.”
