Lions, Broncos Set Fan Plans For Opening Games Of Season

Fans will not be allowed to attend Lions home games “for at least through October,” though the team “still is holding out hope it can host spectators at Ford Field later this year.” The Lions play “just two home games in the first seven weeks of the regular season” -- Sept. 13 (Bears) and Oct. 4 (Saints). The announcement “comes as no surprise” as the state of Michigan is “still adhering to capacity limits at sporting and entertainment venues” of 25% capacity or 250 people, whichever is smaller (DETROIT FREE PRESS, 8/21).

Meanwhile, the Broncos’ season-opening “MNF” game against the Titans on Sept. 14 also will be played without fans. The team in a statement said that it is hopeful about hosting a “limited number of fans on a gradually increasing basis beginning early this season” (DENVER POST, 8/21).
