NBA Memo Details Rules For Team Guests Starting This Month

The NBA in a memo today outlined rules for the "arrival of team guests into the bubble for the start of the conference semifinals," and the "earliest guests could clear the quarantine process and join players is Aug. 31." The NBA and NBPA negotiated terms that preclude players from hosting guests known "only through social media or an intermediary." Each second-round playoff team "has been allocated 17 hotel rooms for guests" (ESPN.com, 8/12).

In most cases, "players would be limited to four guests." These would be family members, ''longtime close personal friends,'' private security staff and childcare providers. Those who wouldn't be allowed into the bubble: "trainers, physical or massage therapists, personal chefs, hair/apparel stylists, tattoo artists, and current/prospective business partners, and certified agents (other than family members), among others" (AP, 8/12).
