IMG Recruits Top Tennis Clients For Video Game Tourney

IMG is hosting a Mario Tennis Aces video game tournament -- “The Stay At Home Slam” -- this Sunday at 4:00pm ET. The event will feature some of IMG’s top tennis clients, including Serena and Venus Williams, Maria Sharapova, Naomi Osaka and Kei Nishikori, paired against other celebrities and athletes. The competitors will play the Nintendo Switch game from their homes, each receiving $25,000 for the charity of their choice. The tournament winner will claim $1M for their charity. John McEnroe and YouTube personality iJustine will provide commentary.

The event will be streamed live on Facebook, which also streamed the recent Mutua Madrid Open Virtual Pro tournament. IMG Senior VP/Tennis Max Eisenbud said, “It is a testament to the people we work with across all our divisions that we were able to bring this to life in such a short amount of time.” Facebook Athlete Partnerships Lead Evan Shugerman: “It’s been incredible to see the creative ways athletes are using social media to support people. ... We’re excited to be partnering with IMG to contribute to those efforts.”
