Ted Leonsis Talks About Bringing Sportsbook To Arena

Monumental Sports & Entertainment Chair & CEO Ted Leonsis talked about the plan to have a working sportsbook within Capital One Arena, saying the initiative with William Hill will give MSE the “ability to turn our building alive.” Leonsis, appearing today on ESPN’s “OTL,” said, “Being a first mover ... we’re going to have to work in the light of day with all of the leagues, with all of the regulatory bodies.” Leonsis said of whether the sportsbook will allow betting on NCAA games, “The NCAA is deep in their research on what should they allow -- and it’s not like people aren’t betting on NCAA games -- but I also don't want to be Pollyanna-ish. I understand the real risks and threats there, and I don't think there's an easy answer” (“OTL,” ESPN, 11/20).
