WNBA Sun Pulling Out All The Stops For Finals Home Games

The WNBA Connecticut Sun host the Washington Mystics for Games 3 and 4 of the Finals starting on Sunday, and Sun VP Amber Cox said the team has “really tried to provide an unbelievable entertainment experience" for Game 3. The Sun are looking to make the most of their first Finals appearance since ’05, and Cox said, “We’ve got a great national anthem planned, great videos, great halftime acts. We just want people to be entertained from start to finish. We know the basketball is going to be outstanding, but we want it to be two hours jam packed.”

The team will hand out 5,000 free T-shirts to fans Sunday. The shirts feature G Courtney Williams’ response to comments by the media with “Role players did that,” which has become the Sun’s post-season rallying cry. Cox said the Sun have started to see local fans “really latch onto what's going on with the team,” and the successful season has started to “resonate throughout the community.” Cox: “We know we’re going to get some first timers in there, and when you have a deep postseason run like this, it really does create the opportunity to expose new people to the WNBA.”
