SEC Media Days Headed To Atlanta In '20, Nashville In '21

SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey at the start of the conference's football media days announced that the annual event is "hitting the road" in '20 and '21. Next year's event will take place in Atlanta, which was also the '18 site, while Nashville will host in '21. SEC Media Days' traditional home is Birmingham, Ala. (MIAMI HERALD, 7/15). Sankey also announced the launch of a new website, SECSports.com/officiating, that "will help explain rules and big decisions." There is now an @SECOfficiating Twitter feed as well (SATURDAYDOWNSOUTH.com, 7/15).

Meanwhile, Sankey "continued to clarify" his and the SEC's position on sports gambling and "how it should look in the college game." He said, "Ideally, there would be uniformed practices applicable across states throughout the country governing gambling on college sports, particularly eliminating specific in-game betting and proposition bets on college sports. ... What is needed now is for our state and federal legislative leaders to enact policies, oversight and to fund enforcement of those policies and laws to make sure we are protecting the integrity of our games and supporting properly our student-athletes" (AL.com, 7/15).
