Elite Swimmers Promote Water Safety On "Today" Show

U.S. swimmers Nathan Adrian, Simone Manuel, Rowdy Gaines, Missy Franklin and Cullen Jones appeared on NBC’s “Today” this morning to promote water safety. Franklin: “We’re working to save children’s lives. Swim lessons reduce the risk of drowning by 88%. So we just want to get the word out to parents, to everyone to get your kids in the water, get them in swim lessons.” Adrian, Manuel, Gaines and NBC’s Dylan Dreyer demonstrated safety tips in a pool outside the studio, with Dreyer thanking the USA Swimming Foundation and sponsor Phillips 66 for "providing this pool for us." Dreyer added, "All these athletes are currently on the ‘Make A Splash Tour’ teaching the importance of learning to swim” (“Today,” NBC, 5/22).
