Reebok Breaks Biggest Campaign In Years With New Ad

Reebok is "breaking its largest campaign in five years" as part of a broader effort by the brand to "reclaim its late '80s, early '90s-era heyday." Titled "Sport The Unexpected," the effort "blends lifestyle and performance into one cohesive branding effort." A 15-second spot debuting today, "Storm the Courts," teases a "longer 90-second digital video in which a game of streetball gets a new twist." The shorter version of the clip "will run on TV through the spring." This campaign is the last for Reebok from Venables Bell & Partners before Deutsch takes over creative in '20 (ADAGE.com, 3/11).

Goff To Endorse Banana Republic; Foles Backs Lululemon

Banana Republic today named Jared Goff an endorser, and the Rams QB will promote the apparel brand's men's merchandise. He will be featured in advertising creative, make public appearances and engage with consumers via social media and other activation. The first Banana Republic creative featuring Goff will appear in summer '19. The brand has a group of athlete endorsers it labels the Banana Republic Men's Style Council.

Meanwhile, free agent QB Nick Foles has agreed to endorse Lululemon as its first NFL brand ambassador (THE DAILY).

Pistons Sponsor Flagstar Bank Signs Deal With Blake Griffin

Michigan-based Flagstar Bank has agreed to a one-year marketing partnership with Pistons F Blake Griffin. As part of the deal, Griffin will be featured in a new Flagstar commercial that will begin airing locally today. Flagstar has sponsored the Pistons since '17, appearing on the team's jersey and activating with an in-arena presence and media assets. The bank views the Griffin deal as a natural extension of the jersey sponsorship (Flagstar Bancorp).

Hyundai Extends With Pirates, Gets Name On PNC Park Club

The Pirates and Hyundai reached a three-year extension of their sponsorship deal through the '21 season. Hyundai becomes presenting partner of the PNC Park Home Plate Club, which now becomes the Hyundai Club. The deal includes naming rights and signage throughout the club, with interior, exterior and seat branding for Hyundai. The agreement also will include outfield wall signage in right field at the ballpark (Pirates).

NBC Sports Promotes Mario Andretti Film With SXSW Panel

NBC Sports this afternoon held a panel at SXSW around its upcoming “Drive Like Andretti” film, which will document the life of Mario Andretti. Discussing the documentary that will come out in May, Andretti appeared on the panel today alongside IndyCar driver Will Power and NBC IndyCar broadcaster Leigh Diffey. For the film, NBC Sports traveled with Andretti to a number of places important to him around the world, including his birthplace in Montona, Croatia. The documentary also features several celebrities and journalists talking about his impact on racing and American culture.

The film debuts on May 11 ahead of the IndyCar Grand Prix later that afternoon at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. NBC Sports Group Senior Features Producer Matt Allen said, “Here we are taking over the sport and full season, it’s our first Indy 500 and the (50th anniversary of his 1969 Indy 500 win), so we get to highlight the greatest driver in motorsports history and hopefully bring in a new audience -- either people who are nostalgic or people who don’t even know why they know the name.”

Milwaukee To Host DNC In '20, With Fiserv Forum As Centerpiece

The Democratic National Committee today announced Milwaukee will host its '20 presidential convention, and the city made Fiserv Forum the "centerpiece of its bid." The Bucks' new arena was "so new when DNC members walked through it last summer, it still smelled like fresh paint on the tour." Milwaukee's bid committee is chaired by Bucks Senior VP Alex Lasry, son of Bucks co-Owner Marc Lasry (POLITICO.com, 3/11). The Bucks in a statement said, "This selection is the result of an incredible collective effort to progress Milwaukee's revitalization and status as a premier global destination" (THE DAILY).

Former Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R) tweeted, "Who would have known that part of our legacy (building Fiserv Forum without a tax increase) would lead to the DNC picking Milwaukee for their convention?" (TWITTER.com, 3/11).

Menswear brand Knot Standard is now an official partner of Atlanta United, providing custom suits and shirts for players, coach and staff to wear to the stadium on matchday (Knot Standard).
