Source Says Yankees' Deal For YES Still Months Away

The Yankees’ purchase of the 80% stake they do not own in YES Network is still several months away and is not closing Friday as was previously reported, according to a source. Additionally, the $3.4B figure used in an earlier report is for the entire valuation of the RSN, not just the 80%, the source said. The Yankees’ key partners in the buyback are Amazon, Sinclair and Redbird Capital, the source added. Disney is selling 22 RSNs as part of its purchase of 21st Century Fox, but the Yankees were the only team with the option to buy back their rights. The source emphasized the YES buyback will occur, but it is not close to completed at the moment.
