Mountain West TV Slotting Could Hurt SDSU-UNM Attendance

Univ. of New Mexico men's basketball hosts San Diego State tonight at 9:00pm MT at Dreamstyle Arena -- better known as The Pit -- where a "downward trend in attendance" will be evident. Tonight's game "won't be a sellout" at the roughly 15,000-seat venue. This comes amid "growing frustration" from Mountain West ADs and coaches due to "self-inflicted damage they feel is being done" by the league’s TV contract. CBS Sports Network and ESPN can "choose random MWC games to play in the 9 p.m. time slot without any financial compensation for the home team." UNM AD Eddie Nunez: "I have voiced my concerns to the conference" (ALBUQUERQUE JOURNAL, 2/5).
